Over 100,000 people will be allowed to migrate to Australia every year for the next four years, further enhancing the existing multicultural population.
To become an Australian permanent resident, applicants or their spouses must be able to satisfy the basic requirements and apply for the appropriate visa. These are organised into three categories:
- Skilled Professional Visa
- Provisional Business Visa
- Family Visa
The skilled migration stream has several categories for people who have particular occupational skills, outstanding talents or business skills. Australia's migration program targets people who are highly skilled, under 45 years of age and who will quickly make a contribution to the Australian economy.
